Bridgnorth Boxing Academy FAQ
Questions that we are frequently asked are answered below
Q1 - What is an open session?
A1 - Our open sessions are from Age 11 through to adults, there are no barriers to entering these sessions and are for Beginners or Advanced boxers. Open sessions are a variety of fitness workouts, conditioning workouts, padwork, bagwork and boxing technique.
Q2 - Can I spar? Or do I have to spar?
A2 - The short answer for both is no. Can I spar is the single most commonly asked question when anyone comes to the gym on day 1, on day 1 of training for the army do they allow you to shoot a gun? We do not allow anyone to come in to the gym and spar on day 1 regardless of the 12 white collar fights you had previously, however its something that you can build up to and can be part of your goals to achieve with us. Do you have to spar then, No not at all.
Q3 - Do you do kids boxing?
A3 - Yes we do sessions for 5-10 Year olds and 10-16 Year olds. Our 5-10 Years session is very much focused on building confidence, improving fitness, having fun and introducing boxing to young people, this is a completely non-contact session. Our 10-16 Years session is again focused on building confidence, improving fitness levels, introducing and encouraging development of boxing skills and giving young people the platform to become an amateur boxer.
Q4 - How fit do i need to be?
A4 - Day 1, Week 1 there are no barrier to entering the sport of boxing or accessing the session at the club. Your fitness will improve over the period of time you spend with us and there will be no expectation for you to be at the levels of the others that attend sessions. You will be pushed and encouraged by coaches and you will be supported in achieving your goals by the others in the gym.
Q5 - Do you do female only boxing?
A5 - Do we... We have a session weekly that is female only which is run by our amazing female coach Verity. So whether its to get fit or to dip your toes in the world of boxing our women's only session is for you.
Q6 - Do you do 121's?
A6 - Yes we do, however we do advise that these will only benefit you once you have grasped the basics of boxing or are interested in a more bespoke fitness package. There is more value for money in our £4 group sessions than in a more expensive 121 session.
Q7 - How much is a session?
A7 - Our group sessions are currently £4 per session, we also offer a monthly membership of £25 a month which entitles you to attend as many sessions as you like during the month. If you are struggling financially we do have a hardship fund that we can use to support with session costs. Get in touch for more details.
